Rising Dim Mak breakout Panic City is taking big room house in bold new directions. Following up an aced version of Tove Lo’s “Talking Body,” the up-and-coming Bay Area-bred producer delivers a thumping remix of Crookers‘ and Jeremih’s “I Just Can’t,” lending his unique style to another impressive remix. And although taking on the veteran house guru’s latest material may seem like a heavy undertaking, Panic City steps up gracefully with a stomping G-house rendition of the tune that you’ll have on repeat all day.
Bombastic horns sound over crisp snare hits and hollering vocal samples as Panic City single handedly carries the big room sound to a new space that leans more towards a packed club dance floor and slightly away from the festival stage. Blunt blows of hollow percussion are weaved together by infectious whistling as Crookers’ and Jeremih’s collaboration is redone by Dim Mak’s star recruit.
