The craft of Djing as it is known in modern times was birthed in New York in the early 1970s; Not long after that, one of the more visible DJs in today's nightlife industry was born in the same place: DJ StoneRokk. Having developed a style of mixing and matching songs from varying directions, creating a potpourri of related sounds with a disregard for genre, he epitomizes this said craft of Djing, materializing each night as a euphonious display of hands-in-the-air crowd control because, as StoneRokk explains: "I play good music correctly".
Relocation to Los Angeles in the 1990s presented StoneRokk the opportunity to be involved in the Hollywood nightlife renaissance, using his signature sound to move crowds at A-list events, industry hotspots, and high-profile soirees. He is on the short list of disc jockeys considered for the intimate events of some of the biggest stars, given the sensitive nature of these things, and has been in the employ of Heidi Klum, George Clooney, and Drew Barrymore, among many others. His list of corporate clients includes the giants of influence and commerce, and any quick glance at his bulging presskit reflects this fact.
Feted as a quintessential California DJ, StoneRokk was romanced out to Las Vegas by the Palms Casino at the turn of the century based upon the prospect that he might inject some of that Hollywood panache into their new Fantasy Tower. He continues to visit Sin City frequently, in addition to appearances at marquee venues in other nightlife markets, like New York, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, and the list goes on.
In order to dispel common misconceptions about DJing and continue to insert fun back into the art, StoneRokk delights in his partnership with the eclectic DJ Graham Funke, known as The Captains of Industry, producing a steady output of music, video, and literary projects to promote the craft they have both spent almost two decades honing. Individually and collectively, they are part of the SKAM Artist roster, arguably the most premier DJ booking agency in the ever-burgeoning business of nightlife.
