Artist Bio

Casandra Elizabeth Ventura was born on August 26, 1986, to a Filipino father and African-Mexican mother in New London, CT. As a youth, Cassie attended The Williams School, a preparatory school in New London, where she trained as a singer and a dancer. By age 14, Cassie began modeling and by the time she was 16, had appeared in several print ads for Seventeen and the Delia’s catalog. Upon her high school graduation in 2004, Cassie committed to pursuing modeling and singing full time.

Her first taste of the music industry came at the age of 16, when she had the opportunity to speak with Rockwilder -- a meeting that inspired her to take formal voice lessons. Her decision paid off; Cassie was introduced to producer Ryan Leslie who encouraged her to continue to pursue music intensively, as she was a once in a lifetime talent. In January of 2005, Leslie and Cassie recorded a song together, which immediately caught the ear of Tommy Mottola, who shortly after signed Cassie to a management deal. With Leslie as her producer, Cassie joined Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment in 2006 and released her self-titled debut album in the summer of that year. Cassie’s hit single, "Me & U," propelled to number three of the Billboard Hot 100, generating more than 1 million digital downloads and becoming one of the most popular songs of 2006.

After the successful release of her debut album, Cassie began a recording spree of successful singles including: "Official Girl" featuring Lil Wayne in Aug. 2008, "Must Be Love" featuring Diddy in April 2009, and "Lets Get Crazy" featuring Akon in Aug. 2009.

Following her massively successful first three years in the music industry, Cassie began to explore new ventures: acting & modeling. In 2008, she made her on screen debut in Step Up 2: The Streets. In 2014, Director Bille Woodruff cast Cassie to co-star in his newest romantic comedy, The Perfect Match (2016), alongside Terrence J. After her impressive portrayal of Eva in The Perfect Match, director Bille Woodruff decided to cast Cassie in his newest film, Honey 3 (2016). Filming Honey 3 required Cassie to move to South Africa where she spent the latter half of 2015.

In addition to acting, Cassie’s modeling career began to take off as well. She burst into the fashion scene, modeling in campaigns for Calvin Klein, GQ, and was the face of Forever 21’s 2013 spring/summer collection. Cassie’s involvement in the fashion world, however, does not just stop with modeling; Cassie has partnered with brands such as Adidas, Abercrombie & Fitch, Seventeen and Young & Reckless. Her unique sense of style and star making fashion campaigns propelled her to become a global style icon. Her most recent collaboration with Diamond Supply Co. was a huge success, selling out instantly.

While Cassie decided to pursue acting and modeling more passionately, she remained active as a musician as well. In April 2013, Cassie made her big return to music when she released her debut mixtape “RockaByeBaby.” The mixtape was promoted with the release of "Numb" featuring Rick Ross and "Paradise" featuring Wiz Khalifa. The project was well received by music critics and her fans alike, ultimately spawning over 1 billion social media impressions and winning “Mixtape of The Year” from Dazed & Confused magazine. As of late, Cassie has been rigorously working on her sophomore album, a project which she believes will go on to define her as an artist by truly encapsulating her abilities as a musician. Cassie has remained one of the most influential artists of the 21st century, successfully blurring the lines between music, acting and fashion.
